I suspect that the birds you do not know are synthesized sound. Sometimes one can make birdsong that sounds eerily real, especially when blended in with actual birds. The beauty of synthesized bird calls is that they tie the piece together with the melodic line..
I love the melding of real bird song with electronic sound! I ‘get it’! And the interweaving of waves and kid sounds at times with machinery-type electronics…then the pop of Puff! Who lives forever in my heart BTW!
Plus, he lived by the sea (great layering of ideas!)
